Pick, your voice carries the kind of hard-won wisdom that only comes from living all in. Thanks for reminding us that resilience isn’t about bouncing back, it’s about finding beauty in the broken and choosing to keep going anyway.
Everyone’s BROKEN dude… but the WHOLENESS is the BROKENNESS… I think… LOL.
I am not much of a GURU.
Don’t go in for that stuff myself.
Education to me was always about the free and fair exchange of ideas and learning in a safe environment.
And that’s what my life was “about” as a story.
Now….?
I have no IDEA what it’s about besides PEACE, FAMILY and FRIENDS.
Thanks for being a FRIEND, dude, who literally popped out of the Internet and started saying things that helped and and never once asked me for ANYTHING in return.
Makes me wonder “Who IS this guy George REALLY in Australia?”
Very few people out there operate without some kind of QUID PRO QUO, ya know?
You’ve heard MY whole story…
You’re welcome to start telling me YOURS sometime too :)
But that’s the FUN PART about LIFE, right?
It’s all just one BIG INVITATION….
Peace, bro and the name GEORGE ZIOGAS will always be a very important one here in our home.
What a beautiful tribute to your grandfather, Pick, full of grit, warmth, and soul. I can just picture those backyard BBQs and the quiet strength behind them. Thanks for sharing that legacy, it really does help clarify what matters most.

Justin, I’m humbled by your kind words mate. Blessings to you and yours 🙏
Back at you, mate. Humbled and thanks for helping rebuild CLARITY around what matters MOST.
It’s like a backpack filled with snacks and Gatorade Zero.
You feel like despite the long road, you can suddenly walk or maybe even DANCE another 10,000 miles….
But this time at a much more MEASURED and MEANINGFUL PACE.
My grandfather was named George.
Well, his name was SIGISMUNDO, but the Americans didn’t know how to say his Italian name, so he went with GEORGE.
He founded a CEMENT BLOCK company called Acton Block in the 1950s.
He sold cement blocks to construction companies.
He threw awesome BBQs in his backyard at 12 Albamont Road Winchester.
And he also had a daughter, my Aunt Donna, with a disability, back when that was an UNSPEAKABLE thing.
George never finished high school. He was in the Army.
Then he spent his life making cement, like the Topolinos, or Stone Cutters of the Sorrento Region of Italy, the same place Michaelangelo came from.
George DeLeo his name was. Died in 1986 of lung cancer. A cloth weaving art project I made was buried with him.
He used to say: “We’re not here for a LONG TIME. We’re here for a good time.”
Thought you’d appreciate that tidbit.
Cheers,
Pick :)
